Barrington begins with her studies at the Margaret Eaton School of Literature and Expression in Toronto and her aquaintance with Dora Mavor Moore, Nella Jeffries and Mrs. Rostance at Hart House. Her involvement with the John Holden players in the 1930s constitutes her first professional theatre employment, and she describes the 1930s as the rebirth of Canadian theatre.
