Recording of a conversation between Joan Peebles and her niece, Priscilla Galloway, in New Westminster, BC on July 6, 1983. On side 1 they discuss, among other things, Peebles' work with The American Society of Ancient Instruments in Philadelphia with Ben Stadt, as well as an encounter with instrument collectors Dr. And Mrs. Abel. The tape contines to run while they go out; they discuss rent in the neighbourhood while walking, they go into a store and look at a coat, and they continue their conversation while sitting down at a restaurant. On side 2, Galloway and Peebles are joined by a guest, Esther Paulson, who was a nurse at the hospital in Montreal where Galloway was born. They discuss, among other things, different styles of "toasts"; Paulson teaches them a Newfoundland toast from 1949, while Peebles recounts Scottish and Swedish versions, as well as the Selkirk toast. Peebles also gives an account of working with a student who had a disability, performing for Mrs. Thomas Edison in Chicago, and narrowly avoiding a car accident in her youth. <1h 30m 23s>

1. Physical extent: 1 audio cassette.~2. According to a note from Galloway, Peebles permitted her to record stories about her life, but only if the recording device was out of sight. The distant or hidden placement of the tape recorder has therefore resulted in audio that is mainly of poor quality.
