The fonds consists of correspondence, typescripts and clippings kept by Théa Gray in her capacity as companion to P.K. Page, attending many of the events documented; it also includes drafts, email and notes related to Gray's work in the selection for The Essential P.K. Page and Hologram and her role as a sounding board for the poet.

The period of time demonstrated in the fonds is that during which Page is making appearances for her final works and considering her legacy. Annotations show Gray's role in these works and discussions and shared experiences from their close friendship. Important events include: U.N. Reading of "Unless the Eye catch Fire," the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the U.N. charter with a work by Somers and Page, the launch of the Trans Canada Trail, concerts and conference celebrating Page's life and work, alongside honours and appearances.

The annotations of files of shifting documents between the files indicates an active engagement of TG with Page over years and TG's role in commenting on certain typescripts. Heterogeneity of the files also indicates ongoing involvement and changing arrangement over the years.

Gray, Théa, 1927-2015 : Helen Anne (Théa) Gray (née Hertzberg) (1927-2015) was born in Montreal in 1927 to Halfdan Fenton Harboe Hertzberg and Dorothy Hertzberg. She is known to have had siblings: a brother Peder and sister Dagmar. Théa Hertzberg's father was in the military: becoming Major-General H.F.H. Hertzberg and commandant of Royal Military College. The family lived in various cities in Eastern Canada Barrie, Ottawa, Halifax, and Kingston.

Théa was a voracious reader from a very young age. She attended McGill (1944-1949) and married Duggan Gray in 1949. They had two children Dagmar and Nairne. In the late 1950s, the Gray family moved to Vancouver to a few years. Most of her days were spent, in one way or another, focusing on the written word. While raising her children, Gray learned to type Braille. She became an accomplished calligrapher. She was involved with the Vancouver International Festival. She sang in choirs in both Vancouver and Montreal, and travelled the world listening to opera.

The Théa and Duggan Gray moved to Vernon to be closer to family in 1984. It was a very happy time and Théa revelled in being a grandmother. She was a great advocate of the Vernon Music School, loved volunteering in several Vernon elementary schools, and was an avid user of the Vernon Community Library.

During the 1930s Gray's father (H.F. H. Hertzberg) had served in Halifax with P.K. Page's father, Lionel Frank Page. While Page and Gray did not meet until the 1990s, they were aware of one another for many years prior. In later years of their lives, the two spent many hours of each day together, a relationship that further nurtured Gray's love of poetry, prose, music and art. Dring this period, Gray became Page's first reader and travel companion.

Théa Gray died in Vernon, B.C. in May 2015.
