The Taggart fonds consists of two documents entitled 'Photogrametry' and 'Photographic Summary' produced and distributed in Britain by the Intelligence Branch, HQ, Canadian Corps in March 1941. The binders were used to guide military personnel in interpreting aerial photographs. The binders include written instructions and mathematical formulas to calculate the effects of an aeroplane's altitude and camera settings on the resulting photographs. There are also many annotated photographs that demonstrate techniques used by the enemy to conceal and camouflage men and materiel.

Charles Irving Taggart : Charles Irving Taggart was born at Kamloops, BC on 15 October 1914. He worked as a land surveyor in the Rocky Mountains and joined the militia in 1936, serving for two years in the Royal Canadian Engineers as a sapper. Taggart reenlisted at the start of the war in September 1939. He was sent to Britain the following January, was commissioned as a lieutenant in November 1942, and later served in the Netherlands. Taggart remained in the army after the war, serving subsequently in Korea and then with the International Supervisory Commission in Vietnam. He retired in 1964 with the rank of Major.

During the Second World War, Taggart held increasingly senior positions in air photographic intelligence, which analysed and interpreted photographs of enemy territory that were taken by reconnaissance aircraft. The photographs were then used to make battle plans. Taggart continued in similar roles for the rest of his career, eventually becoming the chief interpreter and second-in-command of the Joint Photographic Intelligence Center. After retiring from the military, Taggart worked with the National Research Council on projects relating to the use of weather satellites for aerial reconnaissance. Major Taggart died at Ottawa on 7 November 1997.
