The fonds documents the activities of Paul Audley and Associates Ltd. (PAA), a research and consulting company that specialized in government policy and the economics of the culture, entertainment and information sectors. Clients included federal and provincial government offices, industry groups and companies.

The fonds includes final research reports, draft versions of papers, working files and business records of the company.

The fonds also documents conference presentations and journal articles by Paul Audley and his work on Government of Canada committees, task forces and other projects.

The fonds also documents an application for TeleCanada, a pay television station, and the university course taught by Paul Audley.

Also included are operational, research and reference files from Paul Audley and Associates.

Records include draft and final versions of reports, business and administrative records, meeting minutes, memoranda, speeches and presentations, media clippings and correspondence.

Audley, Paul : Paul Audley, policy analyst and writer, was founder and president of the consulting firm Paul Audley & Associates Ltd. (PAA), based in Toronto, Ontario. PAA provided research reports on economic issues in the arts, culture and entertainment industries for clients such as governments and industry groups.

He also served as executive director of the Association of Canadian Publishers (1974-1977), a member of the National Advisory Committee on Cultural Statistics (1984-1987), executive director for the Report on the Task Force on Broadcasting Policy (1986) and director of research for a report titled "A broadcasting policy for Canada" from the Standing Committee on Communications and Culture (1988).

He wrote a book entitled "Canada's cultural industries: broadcasting, publishing, records and film" (Canadian Institute for Economic Policy, Ottawa / James Lorimer & Company, Toronto, 1983).
