The inscriptions are : "In memoriam Sybil Inglefield, born January 23, 1870, died February 10th, 1870. Eliza Fanny, the beloved wife of Admiral Sir Edward A. Inglefield, K.C.B. who entered into rest December 15th, 1890, aged 54 years. "He giveth his beloved sleep." Ps. I27,2, Admiral Sir Edward Augustus Inglefield, Kt. K.C.B. D.C.L. F.R.S. F.R.G.S. Born March 27th, 1820, entered Royal Navy 1832, Mate of H.M.S. Thunderer at bombardment of St. Jean D'Acre 1840, Commanded H.M.S. Comus in action at Obligado 1845, in charge Naval Department, Great Exhibition 1851, commanded three Arctic expeditions, 1852, 3, 4, and discovered 800 miles of new coasts, commanded H.M.S. Firebrand at bombardment of Sevastopol 1855, exhibited at Royal Academy 1857, 65, 68. Naval attaché Washington 1871. Admiral Superintendent Malta Dockyard 1872. Commander in Chief North America and West Indies 1878, 80. Grand Warden of Grand Lodge of England. Entered into rest September 5th, 1894. Ernest Hallowell Inglefield, died at Clarence Hill, Bermuda, November 20th 1879, aged 3 years and 9 months. Albany Otway Inglefield, born February 20th, 1872, died March 3rd, 1872" A great deal of the above inscription is not shown on the photograph; it is quite hedden by the grass.
