Recherche dans la collection - Heritage Canals and Waterways - Quebec Canals [textual record, cartographic material]

This accession consists of files created by the Canals Division, Department of Transport and maintained by the Heritage and Archeology Division, Parks Canada Agency.

Control of the canal system was transferred to the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (DIAND) from the Department of Transport on April 1, 1973. The records and operations of the canals were placed under the responsibility of Parks Canada which was a branch under DIAND.

The records document the construction, maintenance and operations of the Beauharnois Canal, Chambly Canal, Carillon Canal, Grenville Canal, Soulanges Canal , St-Ours Canal, Lachine Canal and Culbute Canal.
