Notice descriptive – Détails Fonds/collection :INUIT BROADCASTING CORPORATIONNo d'acquisition :2018-0080Support :VidéoPartie :1 of ?Date de diffusion :1992 ?Compagnie de production :Inuit Broadcasting CorporationDescription :Unedited footage. Tape begins with a shot of a man sitting in a room, speaking. Next is a clip of three older people sitting outside, talking. They sit on furs on the ground, and there are several more people just out of the frame. There seems to be no sound with this segment. This is followed by a long shot of a body of water and the shore on the other side. Most of the tape is dedicated to a large community meeting regarding the proposed opening of a uranium mine near Baker Lake. At the front of the large community hall or school gym, a woman speaks in Inuktitut and a man translates in English. They field questions from the audience, and then the President of the Keewatin Inuit Association, Louis Pilakapsi, speaks. He expresses concerns about the health hazards presented by the mine, and suggests that the mining company does not care about the lives of the Inuit people living in the area. He worries as well about the speed with which the project seems to be progressing. <31mn 50s>Langue :English / InuktitutNo original :03034BL+??-92-??-InukRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
