File contains various documents used for research purposes by the Interdepartmental Committee on Game Laws and Median Treaties. The committee conducted a comparative study of the promises contained in treaties and surrenders as related to game and fishing laws. Specifically, the file consists of a draft report by the committee (8 September 1965); a copy of a Supreme Court judgement and Northwest Territory Court of Appeal judgement "Sikyea v. Her Majesty The Queen" (1964); a copy of "Memorandum for members of the interdepartmental committee on Game laws and Indian Treaties" by David A. Munroe (24 August 1965); letters from various federal and provincial departments on topics including the committee, game and fishing laws and rights, provincial and federal obligations, treaties, and requesting that Inuit also be considered (1965); annotated copy of "A paper on the work undertaken to date by the Interdepartmental Committee Charged with Conducting a Comprehensive Study of the Provinces Contained in the Various Indian Treaties and Surrenders as related to the Loss Respecting Game and Fish"; a provisional report "Laws and Regulations of Canada and the Provinces Respecting the Use of Wildlife" by Dr. Munto (1965); a list of tasks assigned to the members of the Committee (14 June 1965); a copy of the Memorandum for the Committee on their first meeting (4 May 1965); photocopy of pages 119-123 from "Canadian archives: documents relating to the constitutional history of Canada 1759-1791"; a list of Indian treaties and Surrenders and other notes on treaties; a copy of a memorandum to cabinet recommending the formation of the Committee (18 March 1965); and a copy of a report "Indian Treaties as related to the wildlife and fishery resources" (n.d.).
