Video recording of a talk presented by Tomson Highway in Japan [Nagoya]. Presentation in Japanese and in English of Highway (his writing and career). Highway talks on stage to a Japanese audience. He talks about his childhood home in Northen Manitoba (as well presenting a bit of Canadian geography), Canada's Native communities, his writing as a playwright, his struggle to publish and sell, the struggle to promote his plays. Tomson Highway plays excerpts on the piano of his musical cabaret "Rose". Highway continues to explain the inspiration behind his novel "Kiss of the Fur Queen". Highway reads an excerpt from his novel. He answers several questions from the audience, during which he explains how he learned English in the Residential school, his fifteen years of studying the piano, the languages he speaks (Cree, English, French). <1 h 32 min>
