Video recording of CBC's television program "Adrienne Clarkson Presents" featuring Tomson Highway. Feature presents the life and career of Cree playwright and author Tomson Highway.Images of Tomson Highway and Adrienne Clarkson's trip to Thompson and to Brochet, Northern Manitoba, his hometown. Highway talks about his youth, his parents, his house when he was a boy; the changes in housing on the reserve; the inspirations behind the writing of the Rez Sisters and the realities of the reserves; his views on the Church and religion(s) and its power on Western Civilization as well as its negative impact on Indegenous peoples and their traditional ceremonies; his recollections of leaving his village for boarding school; his experiences at the Residential school and the loss of his Cree language; the impact of the Residential schools on his friends and family; his recollections of teenage life as a student in Winnipeg and feeling has an outsider; his discovery of music and becoming a concert pianist; his work as a social worker then playwright and composer; the impact of travelling in Europe; his views on Art and artistic creation. Presentation and excerpts of Tomson's play "Dry Lips Oughta Move To Kapuskasing" (notably with Graham Green and Gary Farmer). <53 mn>
