Inscribed beneath images: 61-1949. The Norseman chartered from Arctic Wings Inc. at Arctic Bay. This was the first occasion on which a single-engine plane had traveled this far north under winter conditions. 62-1949. A group of Eskimos with Dr. Simpson and Dave Croll on the left. 63-1949. The plane flies from Arctic Bay to land before the settlement. 64-1949. The small settlement of Arctic Bay from the air. 65-1949. An Eskimo and his wife enjoy a tailor-made cigarette supplied by the Government party. Sealskins are being dried on the poles, high above the reach of dogs. 66-1949. In the Arctic Bay region qamutiks are long. Three can be seen in this picture, the longest being upside down on drums close to the residence.
