This episode of Jurisprudence consists of an appeal hearing in the Supreme Court of Canada case of Imperial Tobacco Canada Limited, et al. v. Her Majesty the Queen in Right of British Columbia, et al. (case #30411). The appellants involved were: Imperial Tobacco Canada Limited, represented by David C. Harris and William S. Berardino; British American Tobacco (Investments) Limited, represented by John J. L. Hunter; Rothmans, Benson & Hedges, Inc., represented by Kenneth N. Affleck; JTI-Macdonald Corp., represented by Jack M. Giles; and Philip Morris Incorporated & Philip Morris International Inc., represented by Simon Potter. Another appellant, who did not appear in this episode, was the Canadian Tobacco Manufacturers' Council. The respondents were Her Majesty the Queen in Right of British Columbia and the Attorney General of British Columbia, represented by Thomas R. Berger, Daniel A. Webster, and Elliott M. Myers. The interveners were: the Attorney General of Ontario, represented by Robin K. Basu; the Attorney General of Quebec, represented by Alain Gingras; the Attorney General of New Brunswick, represented by John G. Furey; the Attorney General of Manitoba, represented by Eugene B. Szach; the Attorney General of Alberta, represented by Robert Normey; the Attorney General of Saskatchewan, represented by Graeme G. Mitchell; and the Attorney General of Newfoundland and Labrador, represented by Donna Ballard. Another intervener, who did not appear in this episode, was the Attorney General of Nova Scotia.
