This sub-series spans a vast period of time, stretching from when Pearl Hunter first worked as the office administrator for Allan J. MacEachen during his tenure as the Minister of Labour, into MacEachen's terms as the Minister of Finance (1980-1982) and onto his second term as the Minister of External Affairs (1982-1984). Moreover, while the files in this sub-series are identified as being Pearl Hunter's working files, they are in fact, as is the case with other Pearl Hunter sub-series, MacEachen's office working files, created by staff working in his office, but maintained and managed by Ms. Hunter. The files presented here represent the full gamut of responsibilities and activities associated with the various Ministerial Offices served by Ms. Hunter, and include date books, briefing materials, files relating to House of Commons issues, files on various bills, Cabinet meetings, conferences attended by the Minister, correspondence, committees, the Liberal Party, parliamentary matters, Nova Scotia, communiqués, speeches and visits by and to the Minister, budgets and files on fiscal planning and international economic development.

There are multiple caches of records managed by Pearl Hunter throughout this fonds. Ms. Hunter first worked with MacEachen in Lester Pearson's Office of the Official Opposition, joined him as an office administrator in the Minister of Labour's ministerial Office and basically followed him until she retired in 1994.
