While the date range for this sub-series extends back to 1973 and includes a small collection of committee records that supported Allan J. MacEachen as the Minister of External Affairs and as the President of the Privy Council, the vast majority of records relate to MacEachen's activities and responsibilities as a Senator. There are agendas, minutes, correspondence, reports and invitations for many of the Committees that MacEachen sat on, particularly the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee and the committee looking into Cape Breton Development Corporation. Included in the sub-series are also voluminous committee records relating to two external committees on which MacEachen sat. MacEachen was the Chairman of the Bank of Montreal's International Advisory Committee, the mandate of which was to '...provide a forum for the consideration of and advice with respect to country, area and world-wide economic, financial, political and social developments and trends, as they may be relevant to the Bank's longer term objectives and its business planning.' MacEachen was involved with this committee from 1985 to 1992. There are also significant committee records detailing MacEachen's involvement with Atlantik-Brücke (Atlantic Bridge), from 1986 to 2002, long after his retirement from the Senate. Atlantik-Brücke is a non-profit association designed to promote German-(North) American understanding. MacEachen was a Canadian delegate joining Henry Kissinger, Helmut Kohl and others.
