On June 27-30, 2006, in Gatineau, Quebec, a conference of 400+ leaders, scholars, journalists, bureaucrats and policymakers participated in "Achieving Objectives: A New Approach to Land Claims Agreements in Canada." The participants worked towards establishing a new framework for Land Claims implementation. This conference should be a major event for anybody interested in aboriginal issues in Canada. This item contains the June 28th conference speech given by Thomas Berger, former Justice of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Other speakers include Joanasie Akurnalik, of Nunavit Tunngavik Inc., and Jim Aldridge, of the Nisga'a Nation, who discuss the Land Claims Agreement Coalition. <69mn>
