Department of National DefenceDescription :Solomon Curley participated in an oral history interview conducted by Dr. John MacFarlane for the Directorate of History and Heritage's History of Aboriginal Peoples in the Canadian Military project. The interview was conducted on 15/03/2002 via telephone between Ottawa and Hal Beach, NU. The interview begins with Curley recalling growing up on DEW (Distance Early Warning) Line Sites and impressions of the military in his family. He joined the Rangers in 1993 and describes the activities in which he took part for the first few years. He speaks specifically about search and rescue, hunting, radars, and rifle training and competitions.
