This accession consists of photographs in the CAL and CAT prefixes. The CAL prefix was created to document the operations of army units based in the Western Command area, Calgary AB, Sarcee Barracks, Currie Barracks, Calgary Garrison, Camp Wainwright. Photographs depict exercises involving concentrations of infantry and armour, unit inspections, visits by senior officials and other dignitaries, and base life generally. Units depicted include the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada and the Lord Strathcona's Horse. Later photographs depict Force Mobile operations in the area. A small series of photographs in the separate CAT prefix document the 1967 Canada tour of the aerial acrobatics team the Golden Centennaires, which flew CT-114 Tutor jet trainer aircraft. Photographs in this series show some of the flight staff, aerial displays, and flight personnel posing with an Avro 504 biplane and a CF-101 Voodoo.
