Television public affairs program with host Frank Willis. This special hour-long program takes a look at medical quackery, focusing particularily on fraudulent cancer treatment. Speaking at the first National Congress on Medical Quackery in Washington, the following are heard: Dr. Leonard Larson of the American Medical Association; United States Secretary of Health, Abraham Ribicoff; medical writer Dr. Morris Fishbein; Paul Rand Dixon of the United States Federal Trade Commission; and nutrition expert Dr. Fred Stare. George Ronald interviews Dr. C.A. Morrell of the Canadian Food and Drug Directorate and talks with Oliver Field, an investigator with the American Medical Association who discusses alleged cures and health products. Nutrition advocate Adolphus Hohensee is seen lecturing to a crowd of New Yorkers about his line of products. At his ranch in Pennsylvannia he talks about his philosophy of life and greets visitors arriving at the farm. Cancer quack Harry Hoxsey is interviewed about his treatment clinics and the lawsuit which subsequently put him out of business. Comments from lawyer William W. Goodrich and Dr. Robert Taylor of the Canadian Cancer Society. Film clips of cancer patients at Hoxsey's clinic and a second clinic in Pennsylvania opened by Senator John Haluska, who describes his involvement with Hoxsey's treatment. Mrs. Samuel Calloway, a cancer patient, details her experience at the Hoxsey clinic. A preview of an upcoming program on the British strip club controversy concludes the program. <60mn>
