Accession consists of records created by the Industry Sector Branches (ISBs) of the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce (ITC). Reporting consecutively to the ADM for Operations, the ADM for Industry Development, and the ADM for Industry and Commerce Development, each branch was responsible for research and analysis, providing guidance to the Canadian business community, and administering many ITC assistance programs within their respective field.

This accession consists of records from the Apparel and Textiles Branch, the Machinery Branch, and the Transportation Industries Branch. Records include research and analysis on the textiles and aerospace industries and proceedings of the Machinery and Equipment Advisory Board (1975-1979). Of note are two major projects of the Transportation Industries Branch: a study of the restructuring of aerospace industry following the 1970s purchases of de Havilland Canada and Canadair, and an analysis of the industrial benefits of the New Fighter Aircraft (NFA) program (1977-1980).
