The sub-sub-series pertains to the activities of the Canadian Safety Fuse (CSF). The CSF was established in 1919 as a joint venture of CXL (later CIL) and the American company Ensign-Bickford (CT, USA). The object was to establish a manufacture of safety fuse in Canada to supply the growing mining market. The company will have 2 plants in Brownsburg: the first one (the ignitor cords, connectors and safety fuses' plant) built in 1919 and the second one (the detonating cords' plant) built in 1957 to meet the increasing demand for detonating fuse. A third plant will finally be built in 1969 in Tappen (B.C.).The products of CSF were used primarly to blast rock for mining or for construction purposes.The company will merge with the explosive's accessories division of CIL in 1977 to become the company CXA.

The sub-sub-series contains minutes of meetings, correspondence and financial documents; complaints; projects and progress reports and documents related to safety and union activities. It contains also brochures and news magazines presenting the history and the activities of the company.
