File consists of two ledger books, containing listings of technical plans created by the Grand Trunk Railway Drawing Office, 1912-1933. The first ledger, entitled A Register of Plans, Grand Trunk Engineering Department, 1912-1925, and contains an index of plans numbered 3000 to 10025 and C-100 to C-1199. This index includes information on date of entry, plan number, description, GTR Division and district, plan date, support material, scale, draftsman, file number, and any remarks. Much of (but not all) of the information can be used as a reference book for plans that were approved by the Board of Railway Commissioners. These plans can currently be found in registration 2018-0180.

the second ledger, entitled Plan Register, covers the period 1929-1933, and the information contained appears to be a list of maps, plans, and profiles for Ontario and Quebec, with a different numbering system used. There is also a handwritten list of Canadian Northern Railway profile plans.

There is also a seperate 7 page typed listing of railway branch profiles for the Grand Trunk Pacific, Canadian Northern, and Canadian Pacific railways for the period 1911-1922; and a 1926 map showing railway lines in operation and under construction for the Canadian National, Grand Trunk, and Central Vermont railways.
