The accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Kootenay-Okanagan District Office of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, and its predecessors. Predecessors include: the Kootenay-Okanagan Agency, the Kootenay Agency, and the Okanagan Agency.

The accession includes, but is not limited to records relating to: band management, including minutes of council, council by-laws, and membership; engineering services, including irrigation; trust funds, including trust account statements, savings, budgets and authorities for expenditure, and communication; surveys and reserves; rights of way, including road; sale of land; miscellaneous land matters, including maps and plans, school land, historical sites and monuments, and parks and playgrounds; and Veterans, including the Veterans Land Act.
