Created in 1970 and abolished in the major reorganization of the Secretariat in 1995, the Administrative Policy Branch developed and monitored a comprehensive set of policies and guidelines for the broad scope of general administrative policy. The Branch was responsible for policy development, planning and evaluation, and policy implementation and review in Federal administrative policy. The functions of the branch were dispersed into several components of the new organizational structure initiated in 1995 and the Treasury Board Secretariat continues to execute all the functions of the older branch in pursuit of its continuing mandate to ensure the effective management of all resources across the Federal government
The scope of older branch's mandate during the years covered by this accession and reflected in the records includes ex gratia payments, risk management, information management (including access and privacy, communications, electronic data processing, the Federal Identity Program, security), materiel management, real property management, major crown projects, and policy related to service contracting and the incentive awards program.
