This accession consists of disbanded advisory committee records created and/or maintained by the International Standardization Branch and the National Standardization Branch of the Standards Council of Canada. These committee records include:
-General files of the International Standardization Advisory Committee (ISAC) which was responsible for making recommendations to the Governing council on policy matters concerning Canadian participation in international standardization activities not covered by CNC/IEC and CNC/ISO
-General files of the Advisory Committee on a Standards Information System (ACSIS) which was responsible for promoting co-operation and the exchange of information on standards and standardization in Canada.
-Files of the Coordinating Committee for Standards (CCS) which was a consultative committee within the NSS that recommended policy related to standards work and developed procedures to assist in the management of standard work within the System. These files relate specifically to the accreditation of Standards Writing Organizations.
-General files and meeting minutes of the Advisory Committee on Standards for Consumers (ACC) which was responsible for making recommendations on questions related to protection of consumers as well as information and training in consumer standardization matters.
-General files and meeting minutes of the Advisory Committee on Certification Testing (ACCT) which was responsible for developing policies and procedures for accreditation. These files include ACCT meeting minutes, accreditation applications, files from the Ad Hoc Committee on Criteria for Accreditation of Canadian Certification Organizations and Testing Laboratories, and meeting minutes from the Certification Sub-committee, Testing Sub-committee and Certification Citeria Review Sub-committee
