Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Transportation Safety Board and in some cases, the Department of Transport, Canadian Aviation Safety Board, and the National Transportation Agency. These records comprise occurrence investigation files for Air, Marine, Rail, and Pipeline modes of transport investigated by either the regional offices or, in more serious cases, headquarters. The majority of the investigation files deal with rail occurrences. Box 8 of the accession is also filled with audio cassettes related to air and marine occurrences from 1990.

Note that date ranges reported by TSB do not appear to reflect the true date ranges of the files.

Files number 825-A90P0199 Vol. 1 and 2 in box 2, as reported in the original finding aid, appear to be missing.

Files created prior to 1990 would most likely have been created by either the Department of Transport (air-5002 file), the Canadian Aviation Safety Board (air-825 files), or the National Transportation Agency (rail-2100 files). These files would have been later transferred to TSB.
