Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the British Columbia Regional Office of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada and its predecessors. Predecessors include: the Nanaimo District Office, the South Island District Office, the Vancouver District Office, the Fraser District Office, the Central Interior District Office, the Campbell River District Office, and the North Island District Office.

The accession includes, but is not limited to records relating to: individual case files, including guardianship cases; the mentally incompetent; justice, law enforcement and legal matters, including legal assistance; forestry; associations, clubs, societies; social development, including data base; child and family services; health services; and income support, including statistics and reports.
