This series consists of reports and correspondence relating to the research and development activities of the Canadian Toy Testing Council.

Of particular interest, the series consists of files containing correspondence and research reports from the Department of Consumer and Corporate Affairs' Product Safety Branch (and later the Product Safety Bureau) to the CTTC; CCTC research project material relating to noisy toys for CCAC's Product Safety Branch; a research report entitled "Summary of Findings: Warnings on Toy Packaging Effectiveness Test"; toy safety information from the Standards Council of Canada; research material - including questionnaires - and reports relating to a study on the effects of toy advertising on children, entitled "I Want That!".

This series is divided into four sub-series. One relates to miscellaneous toy catalogues, a second relates to miscellaneous research publications by other organizations, a third relates directories for international toy fairs, and a fourth relates to a publication by the Citizen's Committee on Children for the top children's books in Canada.

Of particular interest is the CTTC's early relationship with the National Design Council. For further information about the National Design Council in the Carl Lochnan fonds (R5769, Mikan no. 183934).
