This accession consists of press indexes which contain extracts of newspaper coverage of the activities of the Canadian Armed Forces and related subjects. During the Second World War the press indexes were produced by the Directorate of Military Intelligence, General Staff. In 1944 the responsibility was transferred to the Directorate of Public Relations Armed Forces, Press Index Section. These reports were maintained by the Director, Historical Section (DHS), War Diaries Sub-section, during wartime, and later the Directorate of History (DHist). The records are arranged chronologically and each installment was given a sequential index number. The subjects covered are listed alphabetically with name of each relevant article and the newspaper publishing the article.
