The accession also contains Patents, including records on the final decision of the Harvard Oncomouse. In Harvard College v.Canada (Commissioner of Patents) the Supreme Court of Canada held that a higher life form is not patentable because it is not a "manufacture" or" composition of matter" within the meaning of "invention" in the Patent Act. An Oncomouse is a type of laboratory mouse that has been genetically altered.
