Recherche dans la collection - Photographic reproductions of survey maps of the Rideau Canal [cartographic material, textual record]

This accession contains photographs of original maps of the Rideau Canal and photocopies of documentation related to the provenance of the maps from the Department of the Interior, Commissioner of Dominion Lands to the Dominion Archivist. Also included in this accession are photocopies of internal Public Archives of Canada documentation and bibliographic and cataloguing reference information.

The maps depict the original survey of the Rideau Canal by Colonel John By in 1831 and are believed to have been for By's own personal use rather than for official purposes. In 1934, they were held by H. Borden Clarke, Old Stamp Shop, Ottawa and acquired by him from an undisclosed family. Microfilm copies of these maps acquired from H. Borden Clarke are held in LAC's collection.
