This accession is composed of operational and administrative registry files related to the Language Training Program. The Public Service Commission administered language training continuously from 1964 to 2004. The Commission administered the program as a delegated authority from Treasury Board which continued to develop the policy framework within which the Public Service Commission develops its program. Organizationally the program has assumed a variety of forms. The program has assumed the status of a special operating agency in the early 1990s. The administration of language training programs was transferred to the Canada School of Public Service in April 2004.
The records in this accession document program planning, design, implementation, evaluation, courses, teaching methodology, complaints, advisory services and marketing. They include various reports and statistics together with administrative records documenting organization and senior management committee meetings.
