The Canadian Mining and Energy Company (CAMECO) was formed in 1988 from the merger of Eldorado Nuclear Limited and Saskatchewan Mining Development Company.

Most files antedate the 1988 merger. Some files, although primarily textual, include maps. Photographic material is occasionally appended in textual files, for instance photographs of staff housing in a mortgage file, and staff identification photographs in the occasional personnel-related file.
The files in the first 37 boxes of the accession typically bear standardized file numbers. Files in boxes 39-47 and 49-57 typically do not feature standardized file numbers, although there are some exceptions in the boxes pertaining to: Blind River Housing (Box 47), Collective Bargaining (Box 49), and Security and Clearance of Personnel (Box 50). Some proportion of files in boxes 39-47 and 49-57 likely represent a collection of working or reference files maintained by R.P. Nannini at the time of the dissolution of Eldorado Nuclear Limited.
