Series documents the production of the Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology by the Genetics Society of Canada (GSC), including administration (printing quality, printing costs, requests for re-prints, meetings of the editorial committee), reports filed to the membership at the annual general meetings (reports by editorial committee and by the treasurer), editorial decisions (communication with authors, feedback from subscribers), and transfer of the journal from the GSC to the National Research Council.

The series also documents the administration of the other GSC publications - the GSC Bulletin and the Miscellaneous Publications of the GSC. (The GSC produced three miscellaneous publications: "Chromosomes of syrphinae (Diptera: Syrphidae)" by J.W. Boyes, Janny van Brink and Beatrice Boyes (Ottawa, Ontario: GSC, June 1971; Miscellaneous Publication of the GSC, No. 1); "Cytogenetics of oats (Avena L.)" by Tibor Rajhathy and Hugh Thomas (Ottawa: GSC, July 1974; Miscellaneous Publication of the GSC, No. 2); and "Chromosomes of Eristalinae and Microdontinae (Diptera: Syrphidae)" by J.W. Boyes, Janny M. van Brink, Beatrice C. Boyes, and J.R. Vockeroth (Ottawa: GSC, 1980; Miscellaneous Publication of the GSC, No. 3).)

Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, records of the committee meetings and annual general meetings (committee reports, agendas, meeting minutes, ballots and nomination forms, financial statements, reports from treasurer and the editor), clippings, and a photograph. The series also includes a hand-written ledger documenting the manuscripts submitted to the journal.
