This accession consists of a large variety of laboratory documents created by the Western Forest Products Laboratory during scientific experiments and studies conducted over the course of its operation. The records relate primarily to the study of such indigenous species as Douglas Fir, Yellow Cedar, Western Larch, Birch, Pine, Mountain Hemlock, Maple, Western Red Cedar, etc. The laboratory documents include, but are not limited to, timber log test sheets (showing data, sketches and equipment readings of impact bending studies), data summary ledger sheets (showing a variety of entries and other forms of coding), apparatus blueprints, large scale photostats, data cards (containing measurements related to static bending studies), and other documents showing graph or measurement scale recordings. Many of these studies involve long term recording or monitoring of data and as a result, some of the documents date from the 1910's onward.

These records were originally held in British Columbia. They were transferred to the National Capital Region in 2016 and are available for consultation there.
