Accession includes artworks, photographs and documents from Phil Weiss's years working at the Canadian Government Exhibition Commission (1947-1960) and as the Director of the National Design Branch of the Department of Industry Tade and Commerce, and his work with the Canadian Executive Service Overseas. This group of records reflect his career involvement in the art of design and exhibitions in the context of the Canadian Federal Government.

The artworks in this series are small gouache on board paintings which were for the most part used on a larger Map of Canada design. These small designs include scenes representative of the Canadian identity including a Mountie, a buffalo, a beaver and other unique animals, Canada's aboriginal peoples, and activities such as hunting, fishing, golfing and swimming, and even an artist at his easel.

Photographs primarily document the career work of the artist which includes working for the Canadian Exhibition Commission (1947-1960), and the Canadian Executive Service Overseas (ca. 1950) and a presentation album from the Canadian National Design Council at the point of his retirement from that endeavour (1997). A souvenir album with photographs and a handful of paper items is part of this series. This group also includes 3 photographs of Weiss's prize-winning Tribute sculpture, and 1 of Weiss with his battalion overseas, housed together for accessibility., Manuscripts related to these years include doucments pertaining to the overseas industries fairs, of the 1950's, specifications and research for the work of the Design Council regarding office design for health and comfort, involving Treasury Board and Health Canada and several reports and published items regarding Expo 67, and further Work Environment design concepts. Several items document Weiss's work with CESO.
