ROLL ONE: The film starts with a wide shot of the entrance to the Canadian National Exhibition. Crowds of people walking and sitting on benches lining the walkway to the entrance. Shot of the Grand Plaza area. Inter-title; "In Front of the Grand Stand." View from the stands of a large one-dimensional replica of what appears to be Buckingham Palace in the middle of the grounds. Inter-title; "Judging Live Stock" A handler holds the reins to a groomed horse, that he leads past the camera. Shots of large short horned bulls. ROLL THREE; Inter-title, "Parade of the Prize Winners", Groomed horses are lead past the camera and people in the Grand Stand. Parade of short horns. Shot of crowds around the Gooderham Fountain. Inter-title; "Soldiers' Sports", Officers and civilian delegates pose in front of the camera. Runners cross the finish line. Shot of runners in potatoe sacks crossing the finish line. Piggyback wrestling. A tug of war match. Crowds in front of a buildiing entrance. Shots of various exhibits; "De Laval Alpha Gasoline & Kerosene Engines", "De Laval Dairy Supply Company - Peterboro Ontario", "Empire Cream Separator Co. of Canada - Montreal - Toronto - Winnipeg", "Agency For The Gilson Engine - Guelph Ontario". Inter-title; "The ever popular Midway". Shots of people riding the ferriswheel. Shots of signs displaying various attractions; 'The Whip', 'The Turkish Torture Cross'. Inter-title; "Society Row". Shots of rows of tents, and exhibits. Shot of a large military outpost built out of sand-bags. Shot of a group of people unfurling an enormous flag of the Union Jack. The faux background of the Buckingham Palace can be seen in the background. ROLL FOUR; Various panorama shots of the grounds and buildings at the Canadian National Exhibition. In one shot through the columns of a building (possibly the National Industries Building), can be seen a large rock sample displayed on the steps to the entrance with the words, 'Canadian Sulphur & Ore Co.' written across it. 1. These three rolls appear to be part of the film listed as CANADIAN NATIONAL EXHBITION, Reel No. C-1617 in the Pathéscope of Canada Limited List of Slow-Burning Pathéscope Films (5th Edition) . The catalogue indicates the film as a two-reeler.~2. A review and comparison of the three rolls indicate that they are part of the same film. The head title font from GC-9500/CLASS H (Part 1) shared the same font as the three rolls (GC-9500/CLASS E/F/G), as well as the subject matter, and upon closer inspection, the motion film stock also shared similar traits, and characteristics suggesting a common origin/source. ~3. See IDC 365652 (GC-9500/CLASS H) for Part 1.~4. Spliced to the tail of roll four (GC-9500/CLASS G) it reads, 'Pathescope KOK Toronto'.~5. Not related to IDC 93327, "General View of Grounds at C.N.E." ~6. Given the 90-year rule, the copyright on this title has expired.
