Television documentary series on the military campaigns of World War II. This program deals with the Battle of Stalingrad waged between the Soviet army and the Wehrmacht. It also includes footage ofthe battles of Kharkov, Sevastopol and Rostov. In addition, there's a brief look at Stalingrad before the German attack, and at fighting that tookplace between the Don and Volga rivers. The following noteworthy shots and scenes are shown: German youth wishing Adolf Hitler a happy birthday; Italian, Hungarian and Rumanian units being mobilized for Stalingrad; Russian newsreel announcing arrival of Winston Churchill; Romanian prisoners of war trudging along; Russian air pilots taking an oath; a huge monument at Stalingrad dedicated to the fallen Soviet soldier; Russian commanders rejoicing at the taking of Stalingrad. The following noteworth personalities are shown: Hitler moving through a crowded street by car in the Ukraine; Hitler meeting with his generals in the Ukraine; Gen. Yeremenk and Gen. Khruschev addresing troops; Winston Churchill and Averell Harriman in Moscow; Averell Harriman meeting Stalin in Moscow; Gen. Zhukov consulting with soldiers during fortification building in Stalingrad; a poem by Constantin Simenov; Field Marshall Von Paulus and his generals at the surrender of Stalingrad by Von Paulus' 6th Army. <60mn>
