This accession contains records maintained by Environment Canada's Environmental Conservation Service (ECS) from file blocks 1000, 2000, 3000, 6000, 7000, 8000, and 9000 of the Department's file classification system.

The administrative blocks (1000, 2000, and 3000) are located entirely in the first three boxes, while operational blocks are found in the remaining boxes as such:

6000 block, Lands Directorate: Boxes 4-6, 62
7000 block, Inland Waters Directorate: Boxes 6-40, 62-70,
8000 block, Atmospheric Environment Service: Boxes 40, 71
9000 block, Canadian Wildlife Service: Boxes 41-61, 71-95

A significant portion of these operational records concern native land claims.

Note that records of the Atmospheric Environment Service, not strictly apart of ECS, are typically maintained separately from the Lands, Inland Water, and Wildilfe records.

Records of the Environmental Conservation Service were maintained by the Conservation and Protection Service after 1985.
