The National Harbours Board was created in 1936 as an agency corporation with jurisdiction over various harbours and grain elevators, including the port of Vancouver. The port was responsible for the maintenance, upgrading, and expansion of port facilities and infrastructures in order to ensure safe and efficient services to local, national, and international port users.
This accession consists of administrative files covering a broad range of port activities. Included are files on conference and meeting attendance, committee membership and activity, correspondence with various associations, as well as files of a more routine nature (janitorial services, gifts and donations, public relations reports and returns, plaque engravings, and newspaper clippings). The files are arranged in alphabetical order.

These records were originally held in British Columbia. They were transferred to the National Capital Region in 2016 and are available for consultation there.
