The twenty-third episode in this television documentary series looks at the Battle of the Pacific between the American Marines and the Japanese Armed Forces between February 1942 and July 1945.~The following topics and events are covered: the Japanese threat to Australia; the Battle of Tarawa; the Battle of the Mariana Islands - Saipan, Tinian and Guam (offshore and on the island); the Battle of the Palaus (the Palau Group of Islands); the Battle of the Philippines; the Battle of Manila; the Battle of Iwo Jima; and the Battle of Okinawa.~The following scenes, shots and sounds are shown and heard: New Guinea jungle life; General Douglas MacArthur and Admiral Chester Nimitz at a meeting; a Marine Corps briefing; Japanese prisoners of war on Tarawa; Japanese fighter planes being shot down by American fighters; naked Japanese POWs being trooped out; the finger prints of a dead American marine being taken; the rescue of wounded American soldiers; a flame-thrower being operated by a marine; miserable war-abused Philippinos; emaciated American prisoners of war at a dysentry quarantine station in the Philippines; Philippine collaborators being beaten; a Marine's chaplain giving communion to battle-worn troops; and views of carnage.~Comments are made by: ex-Marine combattants; Butch Voris; and Frank Manson, Lieutenant, US Navy. <60mn>
