The tenth episode in this television docmentary series looks at the German U-Boat onslaught against Allied merchant shipping in the Atlantic and the defense of that shipping by the R.A.F. and the Royal Navy in the war period of 1939 to 1944.~The topics and events covered are: the highlights of the German U-Boat campaign; Luftwaffe aerial bombing of ships; the breaking of British naval codes; the reaction of the Royal Navy to U-Boat sinkings; the state of the Royal Navy and R.A.F. preparedness for U-Boat assaults; the lack of cooperation between the Royal Navy and the R.A.F. and the result; the character of the merchant shipping fleets and their agonies in menaced waters; the problem of the Atlantic Gap; the role of R.A.F. fighters in the Battle of the Atlantic; and the role of Canada and the United States in the defense of merchant shipping.~The following scenes, shots and sounds are shown and heard: German naval crews receiving decorations; photographs of U-Boat commanders; picking up survivors of sunken merchant ships; Admiral Raeder walking with Hitler; a photograph of Gunther Prien, U-Boat commander; a photograph of Joachim Schepke, U-Boat commander; a photography of Englebert Endrass, U-Boat commander; statistics on the volume of Allied shipping sunk; Allied naval electronic detection equipment; and Churchill's speech reading the sinking of U-Boats.~Comments are made by: former Gross Admiral Karl Donitz; Captain Robert Sherwood of the HMS Bluebell; Otto Kretchmer, former Flotiladmiral; Captain Eyton-Jones of the SS Ben Vrachie; Captain Gilbert Robers, Western Approaches Staff; Vice-Admiral S.
