This accession consists of records from Transport Canada, Ship Safety Unit in Dartmouth, NS. Records include ship safety investigation case files (file blocks 9704 and 9708), including one file related to the Irving Whale. Accession also includes general ship safety inspection case files (file block 9562); other records related to safety inspections; and a group of index cards containing information about pollution incidents. In addition, accession includes records related to the Board of Steamship Inspection, including minutes of Board meetings held in St. John's, NL from July 5-13, 1950. Case files are arranged according to the Transport Canada file classification system.
