News conference by a coalition of groups to protest acts of violence by the apartheid regime in South Africa. An opening statement was read, in both French and English, by Edward Martin-Sloan, Chair of the Conseil Québécois de la Paix, about: race relations, violent acts of repression in apartheid South Africa international relations and Canada's duty to take action against apartheid. A statement was made by John Harket, Director of International Affairs Department of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), about: labour, strong actions by the CLC against apartheid and Joe Morris' actions against apartheid in South Africa. Questions were fielded on the following subjects: CLC planned boycott of South African goods, CLC aid to trade unionists in South Africa, United Nations resolutions against apartheid South Africa and Canadian obligation to the United Nations resolution. Statement by Zaher Bhyat of Canadians Concerned about South Africa, about: South Africa, repressive police state of apartheid South Africa, violent acts in Soweto, repressive policies of the Vorster regime towards independence, demands for Canadian action against apartheid, politics and a demonstration of anti-apartheid groups in Ottawa. <34mn>
