News conference held by the Coalition of the Inter-Union Committee represented by Jack Donegani, President of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada; [Keith Voller], President of the Research Council Employees Association; [Gary Myers], Business Manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 2228; [Gerry Gagne], President of the Canadian Union of Professional and Technical Employees and [Jacques Desjardins], Vice-President of the Letter Carriers of Canada. In an opening statement, Donegani announces plans for an inter-union rally on Parliament Hill to protest Bill C-133 whose purpose is to cap the index provision of Public Service pensions. Donegani claims the government's action is a clear violation of pension trust established between the unions and Ottawa, and cites other damage to pensions threatened by the legislation.
