This is a biography of Canadian blues musician Jackie Washington (12 November 1919-27 June 2009). He was born in Hamilton, Ontario. The documentary includes interviews of Washington and others, discussing his early years playing music with his brothers, and his later career. In addition to being a musician, Washington became Canada's first black disc jockey, at Hamilton radio station CHML, in 1948. Also included are still photographs from the past and present and footage of Washington performing. Other subjects discussed include his family background and the racism he faced over the years. Interviewees include friends such as Irene Manning and fellow musicians. <48mn>
