Sound recording of: the incomplete playback [on radio?] of Glenn Gould's recording of Goldberg Variations (composed by J.S. Bach), preceded by commentary in French by an announcer; a performance of Concerto in C Minor [K. 491?] (comp. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) by an orchestra with [Mieczyslaw?] Horszowski as piano soloist, followed briefly by applause. <1h 4mn 25s>

1. Other extent, physical details information: 1 audio reel ; acetate, 2 sides, 3.75 and 7.5 ips ; 18 cm in diam.~2. The Gould music is heads out on channel 1, at 7.5 ips for 32 min. 27 sec., and then at 3.75 ips for the remaining 1 min. 8 sec., at which point the tape runs out before the ending of the work. Apparently the person making the dub slowed down the recording speed in an unsuccessful effort to record the entire work on the audio reel. The Horszowski music is tails out at 7.5 ips on channel 2.~3. The date 6 March 1956 is marked on the audio reel box for the Gould music. No doubt this is the date of the broadcast from which it was dubbed.~4. Concerning the Mozart concerto, the audio reel box is marked with the date 14 February 1956, which is probably the date of performance. Also marked on the box are "Horszowski & Toronto (McMillan)"; no doubt the orchestra is the Toronto Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ernest MacMillan.~5. The audio reel box is marked "Hirvy", and this sound recording is one a group listed under the heading "Hirvy" in Chotem's classical index. It is possible that the recordings were made by, and received from, Chotem's teacher and friend Michel Hirvy.~6. Leader added at outer end.
