Reporter Elizabeth Gray revisits the former East Berlin and explores how life there has changed in the intervening years. Subjects discussed include: freedom; the adjustments people have had to make, pride in German culture; keeping the knowledge of Germany history alive; coming to terms with the past; and whether unification has worked for everyone. Gray also interviews people who came from East Berlin, including some she had interviewed in 1990. Some people do not want to see the files the Stasi secret police compiled about them. Interviewees include: Joachim Kratschell, son of pastor Werner Kratschell; Louisa Schramm and her daughter; a teacher; actress [Walfrida] Schmidt; translator Claudia [Himmelreich] and a journalist from East Germany who has become successful in the West. Joachim Kratschell recalls going over the Berlin Wall and then telephoning his sister who stayed behind in the East. <27mn 38s>Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
