The preliminary status of this map is exemplified by the unfinished state of the coat of arms of the company. The Canada Company, although organized in 1824, did not receive its charter of incorporation until August 1826. The phrase in the title "Incorporated in 1825", is probably indicative that the map was prepared in the organizational stages when it was anticipated that the charter would be received in 1825.
A list of the Board of Directors of the Company and of the Commissioners appointed by the King to ascertain the value of the Crown & Clergy Reserves in Upper Canada. is given.
