Diameter of dial plate 16 in. Exterior size 24 in. Cut on hard marble. Hour angles laid down by trigonometry divided into minutes. Note goes on to state that a south vertical dial on south side of the observatory at same cost could be erected by Mr. A. Rea. An observatory that was part of Queen's University was located in City Park. This observatory is shown on John C. Innes map of Kingston dated 1865. According to Kingston City Hall the Observatory was demolished in th 1940's. A small observatory stood on the right of roadway before descending the main gate in R.M.C. grounds, between 1886 and 1951. It was used in teaching astronomy and surveying to Cadets at R.M.C.
